Thankful Gospel Partnership – Philippians 1:1-8
We often know the deep joy that comes from partnering with others for the gospel.
1. Joyful thanks for gospel partnership (vv. 3-5)
This is a thank you letter – to God – every time Paul prays – in all his requests – for their gospel partnership.
2. Joyful confidence in partnership (v. 6)
Paul is confident in the partnership in salvation but foremostly their partnership in proclamation. His confidence rests in God having begun, continued and will one day perfect their partnership.
3. Joyful sacrifice in partnership (vv. 7-8)
Gospel partnership is costly both to Paul and the Philippians. Gospel partnership requires sacrifice from us too.
Questions for us? Do you know the feeling of being exhausted because you have poured yourself out for God’s people? Do you know the joy of that gospel partnership? Thinking about our church family – is our gospel partnership as precious and joy producing as Paul’s and the Philippians? Gospel partnership is fragile, so how often do we thank God for beginning it? How often do we ask God to continue it? Gospel partnership requires sacrifice – can you think of sacrifices you have made recently when partnering with others for the gospel? What life sound fuller – one of joyful gospel partnership or one life by yourself or for yourself?
