Today’s sermon: Rev 20 v 7 – 21 v 8 “The day when sin is overcome forever”

Intro: Are you looking forward to the day of Judgement?

The day when God puts all things right.

  • A day of Victory (20v7-10)

An epic battle scene set up between evil and good;

  • But one sentence and it is finished

“But fire came down from heaven and devoured them.”

  • Because at the cross the victory had already been won

  • And so we can live lives of victory right now

            2. A day of Justice (20v11-15)

The need for justice

The reality of justice

  • The book of deeds

“The frightening fate of the unrepentant”

  • The book of life

A day of joy and celebration for the Christian where Jesus is glorified

Conclusion

Memory verse: Rev 20 v 12

“And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.”

Gold award time: “Well done my good and faithful servant”

Life Group Questions:

  • Read 20v7-10. What is encouraging about the nature of God’s victory over Satan? How might this impact our lives now?
  • Read 20 v 11-15. How is God fair in these verses? Why will the book of deeds never be enough to gain entry to the new creation?
  • Are you looking forward to the day of judgement? In what ways should we live differently because we know that day is coming and that it will be a good day for Christians?
