Today’s sermon: Psalm 46 “Singing the Right Songs”

Intro: The battle of Hacksaw Ridge

Do we fear when struggle and trials come our way or do we look to the Lord for refuge and strength?

  • We Will Not Fear

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear…”

Jesus alone is our refuge, strength and help.

In our Revelation series we see that The Lord is reigning on the throne and he is also among the lampstands, his people. What a wonderful comfort to know that we can trust him because he is in control and know that he is with us giving us his help and comfort.

  • We Will Be Glad

“A river whose streams make glad the city of God…” - Pointing to the river in the Heavenly city, the New Jerusalem.

Reading his word and all the promises he makes to us and singing them out in praise is so good for our souls. It can only cause our hearts to burn with gladness for what he has done and continues to do for us.

Christian happiness & the benefits ~ Jonathan Edwards

  • If you’re a Christian, your bad things will turn out for good – Romans 8:28

  • Your good things can never be taken away from you

  • The best things are yet to come
  • We Will Be Still And Know That His Is God

The comfort and instruction of the words “Be still and know that I am God”.

When do we find the time to be still?

How joyful and gladsome must the thoughts of Jesus Christ be to a Christian, to think with how great a love Christ has for us, even to lay down His life and suffer the most bitter torments for our sake, Who also now continually intercedes for us at the throne of grace. ~ Jonathan Edwards
